The Feast of the Black Nazarene commemorates the Traslacion, a momentous procession that celebrates the veneration of a relic of Jesus Christ, brought to the Philippines in 1606 by the Augustinian Recollects. Devotees from across the nation join the annual event, seeking spiritual solace and assistance from the revered image of the Black Nazarene.

As the celebration continues to attract an increasing number of attendees, the 2024 Traslacion saw a record of over 6.5 million devotees, with this year’s event expected to draw even larger crowds. To ensure the safety and smooth flow of the event, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is prepared to deploy over 14,474 personnel in anticipation of the 2025 feast.

Among the key activities are the Walk of Thanksgiving on Dec. 31, the ‘Pahalik’ traditional activity from January 7 to 9, and the highly anticipated procession on January 9, which kicked off at the Quirino Grandstand and culminates at Quiapo Church.

To accommodate the influx of devotees, the Holy Masses will be livestreamed and available for viewing across the city and online on its official social media page, ensuring that the event’s rich spiritual and cultural significance reaches Filipinos and devotees around the world.
